Maldives

The Maldives offers the perfect escape, with its remote location, quiet pace and idyllic islands set in beautiful turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean.   Here resorts range from simple islands for surfers to six-star islands for fashion designers.   Every resort is set on its own patch of paradise, so travellers can really feel like castaways on a desert island.   The Maldives is an archipelago of 1190 tiny coral islands grouped into 26 atolls, south of India and stretching 500 miles all the way down past the equator.   The capital is Male, where most Maldavians live, but the population of 250,000 is also scattered among 200 of the other islands in the Maldives.
