Amanpulo is located on the private island of Pamalican. The island is 2.4 km (1.5 miles) long and 500 meters wide and is surrounded by a number of small islands that make up the Quiniluban group of Cuyo Islands in the Sulu Sea. The island is surrounded by 5.5 km (3.4 miles) of white sand beach and coral reefs located 50-300 meters from the shore. The turquoise sea is crystal clear and excellent for swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving, fishing and sailing. Amanpulo is a luxurious retreat for those who are looking for the ultimate beach vacation in complete tranquility. Accommodation Amanpulo’s 40 casitas, spacious 65sqm cottages in hillside and beachfront settings, are modeled after the Philippine bahay kubo (native dwelling). Inside, decorative details reflect the islands: pebble-washed walls; coconut-shell tables; rustic Palawan rice and knife baskets; a king-size bed with a rattan headboard; sliding-glass doors that reveal outdoor decks and his-and-her divans. Nearly half the space in a casita is given over to a Cebu marble bathroom, with twin vanities, separate changing areas, a shower and an elegant bathtub lit by twin wood shutters. Amanpulo’s 29 Beach Casitas come with a hammock and private path that leads through a tangle of bush directly onto a white-sand beach, set with two personal sun beds and a beach umbrella. 4 Treetop Casitas on stilts climb with the palm trees high above the island while the 5 Hillside Casitas offer spectacular views. The resort’s two Deluxe Hillside Casitas (39 and 40) feature the most panoramic views of the Sulu Sea and surrounding islands. All casitas are equipped with air-conditioning, IDD telephones, private bar, electronic safe, Lavazza coffeemaker, satellite TV, DVD/CDplayer, iPod dock and surround sound system. The casitas are linked by roads and walkways for easy access to the beach and the resort's facilities. Each casita comes with a gasoline-powered golf cart for exploring the island. Island-wide Wi-Fi internet connection is available. Amanpulo also has 11 private villas for rent. All villas come with a private staff and golf carts. Villa guests enjoy full use of all resort facilities and services. Facilities The light-filled Clubhouse, situated in the center of the resort, overlooks the 30m swimming pool and encompasses the Restaurant, the Lobby Bar and Terrace, the Library, the Boutique and Galleries. View from the Restaurant Terrace extends across the Sulu Sea and surrounding islands. A garden walkway leads down from the pool to the Beach Club where guests can lounge on one of the sand-white mattresses on the deck and enjoy lunch, snacks or cocktails in a casual beachfront setting. Arrays of water sports are available at the adjacent Sea Sports Hut and scuba diving can be arranged at the Dive Shop located 5 minutes away by golf cart from the Clubhouse. The Windsurf Hut is located on the north eastern side of Pamalican, just past the Clubhouse. Beside it is the Lagoon Club where guests can also have breakfast, lunch or dinner, with Vietnamese food as specialty. Two floodlit synthetic-grass tennis courts are located adjacent to the Clubhouse and are floodlit for night play in addition to the Gym surrounded by lush vegetation.
