"Discover two polar sides of Japan as you travel to Tokyo and Kyoto with this twin centre holiday."

Dive into the tantalisingly vast metropolis of Tokyo with its sleek high-rises, futuristic transport system and giant temples. Then travel back in time to stunning Kyoto, where charming gardens and shrines prevail.

Tokyo is alike to a sci-fi movie, with neon-laden skyscrapers towering above busy city streets. Experiment with the delicious cuisine, enjoy a drink and a meal at an izakaya before taking in the skyline from a swanky bar. Make sure to hit the shops before you leave - this is one fashionable city. Travel west to the ancient capital of Kyoto, where tradition reigns and wooden houses line the streets. Visit the iconic shrine of Fushimi Inari-taisha, dedicated to the god of rice and sake, with its collection of over 5000 vermillion torii gates.

Tokyo’s traditional seasonal weather sees favourable conditions for most of the year, with fairly high daytime temperatures even through the winter months. Temperatures soar in the summer, and the rainy season of June and the typhoon season of September bring abundant rainfall and a humid, muggy atmosphere. The best time to visit Tokyo is in autumn, from late September to November, when days are pleasant and skies are clear. Most visitors choose to visit Kyoto during the months of spring and autumn, when temperatures are most appealing and the weather is stable and predictable. Outside of these seasons, Kyoto’s weather can be somewhat hard to predict, with sticky and hot summer conditions and icy winters. Visiting in spring allows for wonderful scenery as the cherry blossoms explode into colour.
