Weather

The city of Phnom Penh enjoys warm, tropical weather all year long. There are two seasons: a dry season from December to April and a wet season from May to November. In the dry season the northeast monsoon winds keep the days sunny and dry, but the wet season brings the monsoons themselves, bringing showers and high levels of humidity. Many people choose to visit in December and January due to the comfortable climate and lack of rain.  As typical for Cambodia, Siem Reap enjoys warm, tropical weather all year round. The dry season lasts from November to March, with hardly any rain falling in December and January, although these two months are part of the Cambodian winter, meaning cooler climes. This time is ideal for sightseeing, allowing visitors to cycle and visit the temples comfortably. The wet season begins in May and lasts until November, and often brings spectacular storms.  Phuket has a tropical monsoonal climate, with the rainy season beginning earlier than in northern Thailand, starting in May but generally ending late October. Apart from the period between mid-September and mid-October when the rain falls steadily, most monsoon days are rain-free save for showers in the afternoon. The best months to visit Phuket are from November to February, when temperatures are comfortable, skies are clear and blue and humidity is low. This is the high season, with the majority of visitors coming over for the Christmas and New Year period.
