Begin your journey in the city of Chennai, where the Fort of St George is the only remaining relic from the settlement's British heritage. A visit to Madurai allows you to explore the magnificent Meenakshi Amman Temple, which stands proudly on the southern bank of the Vaigai River. The temple is undoubtedly one of the finest in India, and is distinctive for its ten gopurams, all intricately decorated with thousands of brightly painted stone figures. A houseboat cruise through the backwaters of Kerala transports you through handsome greenery, including verdant paddy fields and mangrove forests. Your final stop is Bangalore, the Garden City, home to many wondrous landmarks including the elegant Tipu Sultan's Palace.
