Beijing weather is split into four main seasons - a short, blustery spring; a long, hot summer; a cool but pleasant autumn and a long, cold winter. Temperatures can reach extremes during summer and winter, exceeding 40C in July and August and plunging to -20C during January. The best time to visit Beijing is during September or October, when temperatures are mild and conditions are fine.
