"The Con Dao Islands are an archipelago of 15 islands and islets just off the southern coast of Vietnam."

The largest of Con Dao's islands is Con Son, which due to its location was used historically to contain prisoners during the French colonial period and the Vietnam War. Today the islands provide an unspoiled paradise for visitors, rife with rare species of wildlife, dense forests and inviting beaches.

As much as 80% of land areas across the islands is designated as part of the Con Dao National Park. The mountainous terrain of Con Son and the rich forests of the National Park allow for some brilliant rainforest treks, although it is advisable to enlist the help of a native guide when tackling the trails. A hike through the lush environment will expose fruit plantations and a wide array of fauna including the endemic black squirrel and the crab-eating macaque.
