"Palaces, pagodas, tombs and temples are scattered across the historical city of Hue, capital of the Thua Thien province."

Many Vietnamese would class Hue as a ‘sad and sleepy city’, its past marred with warfare and heartbreak that the locals would rather forget. However, the town’s sprawling Citadel complex makes it a great place of interest for culture lovers.

The city is located on the banks of the majestic Song Huang, or Perfume River. The gentle river received its moniker because of the many forests of aromatic plants that it flows through before reaching Hue, bringing with it a pure and fresh scent. The pretty river, criss-crossed by dozens of bridges, is incredibly romantic, and has inspired many artists, poets and composers.
