"La Résidence Hue Hôtel & Spa is an enchanting boutique hotel on the banks of the fabled Perfume River."
The hotel overlooks the former Imperial Citadel - once home to Emperors and now preserved as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Endowed with opulence and warmth, this former residence of the French Colonial governor has been painstakingly restored and refashioned into an exceptional design hotel.
The hotel’s distinctive bowed façade, long horizontal lines and nautical flourishes are hallmarks of the 1930’s Streamline Moderne school of art deco architecture. Built in 1930 as the French Governor’s official residence, this 3-storey riverside mansion underwent a dramatic makeover in 2005, gaining 2 new wings in the glorious style of the original. Oozing history and class, yet still convivial and informal, the hotel is now almost certainly the finest accommodation option in Hué.
With 122 rooms and suites, La Résidence Hôtel & Spa is truly a boutique hotel and great care has been taken to preserve the charm, comfort and atmosphere of a classic colonial villa. Whilst all rooms boast every modern convenience, the atmosphere of a bygone age is captured through sensitive use of local materials, art deco inspired design and careful attention to detail. Most rooms have breath-taking views across the Perfume River to the imposing Flagtower Bastion of the Citadel beyond.
Guests of La Résidence can enjoy the hotel’s award-winning “Le Spa” and other activities including the large freeform saltwater swimming pool, fitness centre, tennis court, boutique and art gallery. Weary sightseers can find solace in the glorious gardens on the banks of the Perfume River.

Hue's unique location within a mountain range gives the city its notoriously bad weather of gloom and drizzle for the majority of the year. The region does see a dry season however, and temperatures peak between May and August. Visiting during the dry months will also allow you one of the best Hue experiences - swimming in the river that runs through the Phong Nha caves.
