"Around 200km east of Saigon on the southern coast of Central Vietnam lies Phan Thiet, capital of the Binh Thuan province."

Once a part of the Cham kingdom, the small yet busy city of Phan Thiet exists today as a major fishing town. Despite its fine location, Phan Thiet suffers from being just down the road from popular beach resort Mui Ne, and consequently doesn’t attract too many foreign travellers.

Huddled around the Ca Ty River, Phan Thiet’s status as a fishing town means that it has a good amount of affordable, high quality seafood restaurants at the water’s edge. It is also famous for its fish sauce, a condiment crucial to Vietnamese cuisine. One of the town’s few interesting sights is the colourful fleet of fishing boats that bob on their moorings near the Hung Dao Bridge, making for a picture-perfect postcard opportunity.
