Hanoi enjoys the typical weather experienced in Northern Vietnam, with a hot season from April through to October, and cooler winter weather from then on. The wet season mirrors the hot season, producing humid months with an average temperature of around 30°C. The weather is very changeable however, so don't be surprised to see temperatures, rainfall and sun hours vary from day to day. Generally the best time of year to visit is during April and May, with comfortable temperatures and still relatively low rainfall. As expected of a city in central Vietnam, Hoi An enjoys warm weather the whole year round with an average temperature of 29°C. There are two main seasons: the wet season and the dry season. The wet season spans from September to January, and these months see constantly heavy showers. It is best to visit during the dry season, specifically between February and May when temperatures are moderate and humidity is low. However, if you're a sun-worshipper, plan your trip for May or June. Nha Trang's position in southern central Vietnam gives the region its prolonged dry season, which stretches from January to August. During this time temperatures will also average around 28ºC, making any of these months an ideal time to visit. The peak time for tourists is between June and August, so if you want to beat the crowds, hold off until early September - the beaches and cities should be less busy by then. The weather in Ho Chi Minh is split into just two seasons, and the city receives a tropical climate with hot, humid conditions all year round. The rainy season lasts from May to November, with showers tending to be short and sudden during this period. The dry season sees slightly cooler temperatures, but still maintains an average temperature of 28ºC. Typhoons are common between July and November, so it's advisable to avoid this period. Most people choose to visit during the dry season.
