12 Days Wonders of China

China Tour

Experience some of China's highlights on this carefully crafted tour, witnessing raw natural beauty and sprawling cities.

From the vast commercial centre of Shanghai to the culture-rich giant that is Beijing, this 12 day tour captures the magic of China, and is a perfect introduction to this great nation. The first half of the tour guides you through some of the country's most picturesque sights, including the mist-shrouded rice terraces of Longji, which glisten and gleam in the sunlight. Cruise the lazy Li River both by day and night, savouring the wonderfully fresh air and witnessing the traditional fishing techniques used by the locals. A trip to Guilin, with its stunning cave and karst systems precedes a back to back city tour of ancient Xian and bustling Beijing. Take an excursion north east to the Great Wall, unarguably one of China's must-see landmarks. Your final day includes a visit to the Temple of Heaven and its peaceful park complex, as well as a rickshaw tour of the traditional Hutongs - ancient alleyways that formed tightly-knit neighbourhoods, originating back to the Yuan Dynasty.

Weather

Shanghai weather can be split into four distinct seasons - a warm spring, a hot and rainy summer, a comfortable autumn and an overcast and cold winter. The region receives rain for around a third of the year due to its location at the estuary of the Yangtze River. The weather is hottest during July and August, peaking over 35C. The best time to visit Shanghai is during spring, from March to May.

Guilin has a subtropical monsoon climate with four distinct seasons and high humidity.  Though Guilin is suitable for traveling all year round, and the Li River is beautiful in all four seasons, the most popular travelling time is from April until October.

Xian weather is mild with four distinct seasons - a warm but variable spring, a hot and wet summer, a cool and rainy autumn and a dry and cold winter. March to May is usually warm and pleasant and is the best time of the year to visit. Early autumn from September to October is also a good time for a visit.

Beijing weather is split into four main seasons - a short, blustery spring; a long, hot summer; a cool but pleasant autumn and a long, cold winter. Temperatures can reach extremes during summer and winter, exceeding 40C in July and August and plunging to -20C during January. The best time to visit Beijing is during September or October, when temperatures are mild and conditions are fine.
