Celebrate the highlights of four of China's most well-known cities as you take on this classic nine day tour.

This city-hopping tour begins on the east coast with the powerhouse of Shanghai. Explore the famous Bund area by the river, where you can catch a glimpse of old Shanghai and the remaining European buildings that still line the waterside. Journey to handsome Suzhou, dubbed the 'Venice of the East' for its canal system and attractive architecture which features many classical gardens. Travel west to Xian, where a wealth of Chinese history awaits you. Take a walk along the ancient city walls and uncover the mystique of the great Terracotta Army. Finishing the tour with an extended stay in Beijing allows you to explore its most notorious landmarks, including history-steeped Tianamen Square and the incredible Great Wall. Make sure to sample some of the city's famous nightlife and indulge in a drink or two whist enjoying panoramic views of the urban jungle.

Shanghai weather can be split into four distinct seasons - a warm spring, a hot and rainy summer, a comfortable autumn and an overcast and cold winter. The region receives rain for around a third of the year due to its location at the estuary of the Yangtze River. The weather is hottest during July and August, peaking over 35C. The best time to visit Shanghai is during spring, from March to May.

Xian weather is mild with four distinct seasons - a warm but variable spring, a hot and wet summer, a cool and rainy autumn and a dry and cold winter. March to May is usually warm and pleasant and is the best time of the year to visit. Early autumn from September to October is also a good time for a visit.

Beijing weather is split into four main seasons - a short, blustery spring; a long, hot summer; a cool but pleasant autumn and a long, cold winter. Temperatures can reach extremes during summer and winter, exceeding 40C in July and August and plunging to -20C during January. The best time to visit Beijing is during September or October, when temperatures are mild and conditions are fine.
