9 Days Journey Through Peninsula Malaysia

Malaysia Tour

This comprehensive tour explores the many themes - nature, history and culture - which make Malaysia unique.

A city made up of skyscrapers and historic monuments awaits you - Malaysia's capital Kuala Lumpur - at once ultra-modern and charmingly traditional. Marvel at the sheer magnitude of the Petronas Towers, which stretch a dizzying 450m into the sky. Enjoy the delicious diversity of Kuala Lumpur's food scene, from spicy street food to hearty dishes in Chinatown. A journey inland brings a stark contrast in environments, as you embrace the fresh air of the Cameron Highlands. The alpinescape seems out of place in exotic Malaysia, as verdant tea plantations and British-style towns make up the tapestry of the rolling, green hills. A rainforest tour precedes your journey to the final destination of Penang, where a wealth of culture and glorious scenery combines to produce one of Malaysia's most popular destinations.

Weather

Kuala Lumpur has an equatorial climate defined by hot year round temperatures and abundant rainfall. The Titiwangsa Mountains in the west and the mountainous Indonesian island of Sumatra to the east offer protection to the city and influence its climate. The southwest monsoon rain hits between September and April but rainfall is not too high throughout the season. The best time to visit is between June and August, when the weather is driest.

The higher altitudes of the Cameron Highlands gives the area consistently cooler weather, which can be refreshing after the oppressive heat of Southeast Asia. Rainfall is abundant throughout the year, but the driest months are often January, February, June and July. Even these months have as many as 15 rainy days each.

Penang’s equatorial climate means high heat, high humidity and high rainfall all year round. There are two main seasons – the dry season from December to March and the wet season from April to November. However, Malaysia is affected by two monsoon seasons so wet weather is always a possibility. Most people opt to visit Penang during the dry season, when rainfall and humidity are at their lowest.
